your rights
The important thing to realize is that there is no Copyright in ideas themselves
- ideas must be expressed for this important right to apply: they must be turned
into, for example, a written work, something you can hold in your hand, or some
other tangible product or item...
Once you have done that, Copyright offers some free legal protection to all
of the following (and more):
- Literary works e.g. books, training courses, magazines, other periodicals,
newsletters and leaflets
- Musical works e.g. sound recordings, pop music, classical music on tape, disk,
vinyl, CD or CD-ROM etc.
- Accompanying words to musical works
- Dramatic works e.g. plays, screenplays, operas etc.
- Accompanying music to dramatic works
- Pantomimes and choreographic works
- Pictorial and graphic works e.g. photographs and digital photography, drawings,
comics, paintings, greeting cards etc.
- Sculptural works
- Other crafted works e.g. metalwork, jewellery, toys, dolls and ceramics etc.
- Motion pictures and other audiovisual works e.g. film, DVDs, CD-ROMs, video
or digital movies etc.
- Sound recordings
- Architectural works
- Computer programs (software or 'applications')
Where else are you going to get 100% legal protection for free? It's simply
fantastic! So don't ever knock copyright!
